Discovering Narnia Skits

Note: This activity works best with at least two or three students.

Directions:

  1. Choose one of the following plot segments from Ch. 2-4.
    • Lucy meets Mr. Tumnus
    • Lucy has tea with Mr. Tumnus
    • Edmund meets the Queen (White Witch)
    • Edmund talks with the Queen (White Witch) in her sledge
    • Lucy and Edmund meet at the lamp-post
  2. Reread the segment you have chosen. Write a skit script that includes the appropriate characters (Lucy, Mr. Tumnus, Edmund, Queen, Dwarf, etc.) for the plot segment you chose. Your skit script should include what the characters say, as well as directions telling them what to do. Your skit should be based on the novel, but do not have to be exactly word-for-word from the novel. Be creative! You might give minor characters (such as the dwarf) speaking roles, or have characters say to the audience what they are thinking about a situation.
  3. Create a list of props and costumes that you will need to perform your skit.
  4. Practice your skit until it is memorized and smooth. Keep in mind that you should never turn your back on your audience, should speak clearly with emotion, and if you forget the exact words- just go on with something similar that makes sense.
  5. Perform your skit for an audience, or video-record your skit to share with others.
