Dressed Animal Story: Map

Directions:

  • Look at the 3 example maps.
  • Make a hand-drawn map.  The map must be very detailed and should fill most of your paper!  Pencil or pen drawings without any color are fine.  If you do wish to color your map, use colored pencil and color it very lightly so that it will still look nice if it is photocopied into black-and-white.
  • Show the natural surroundings (trees, rivers, hills, coral reefs, etc.) that are in your story and the neighborhood of the main character.
  • Show the homes, shops, public buildings, parks, monuments, etc. that are in the area.
  • Put labels on your map; use correct spelling and capitalization!  (Give specific names, such as Puddle Pond, Mushroom Glen, or Rushing River.)
  • If your map has humps for hills, trees for forests, etc. that are very logical, you do not need to make a key.  If you use odd symbols, please do include a key.
  • Place a compass rose somewhere on your map.
  • Write your first and last name and a © date on one of the lower corners of your map.
