Question = What I want to know

Hypothesis = Make an educated guess

This is often stated as an if/then statement. Example: If I combine an acid with a base, then I will see a change in color.

• Think about your own experiences with similar situations.
• Research using your textbook, encyclopedia and print resources, and online resources

Experiment = Test my hypothesis

• plan an experiment
• gather materials
• perform experiment
• record observations

Conclusion = Check my guess

• What conclusions can you draw from your experiment?
• Does this match with the results you expected?
• Does this match with results of other people's experiments?

Publish = Share my answer

• Write down or discuss your results with others.
