Biography Book Report

Directions:

This book report has three parts to it. You are to complete each part by its due date. Put all parts in a three-prong folder in the order they are assigned.

  1. Fill out the Guess Who? form. Follow all directions on that page. This will be the first page in your three-prong folder when you finish this month's book report. due at end of third week in February.
  2. Write a one-page friendly letter to the person the biography is about. Tell the person why you chose to read about her or him, what events in this person's life seemed important to you, and what you thought of the book. You may also ask questions about things from the person's life that you wonder about.  This will be the second page in your folder. due mid-fourth week in February.
  3. Write one to two paragraphs about why you think the author wrote a book about this person. What was the author's goal, and what was important for others to know about their person? This will be the third page in your folder. due end of the forth week in February.
Extra Credit:
  1. Write a business letter to the author of your book. Tell the author how you felt about the book, why you chose to read this book, what you learned from reading this biography, and how you would like to be similar to the person in the biography. Make an attempt to mail the letter to the author (try mailing it to the company that published the book).
  2. In two to four paragraphs, explain who you would write a biography about, why you would write about that person, important things you would include in their biography, and the theme (what you want the reader to learn or understand from reading your book) you would focus on.
